Fill a Backpack, Fill a Need Collection Nets More Than 1200 Pounds of School Supplies

Ministry Health Care employees in the Weston/Wausau area have joined forced with partners at The Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Weston to collect more than 1200-pounds of school supplies to benefit children in Marathon County.

The contribution benefit’s the Workplace Volunteer Council’s annual Fill a Back Pack, Fill a Need program and represents employees at Clare’s Hospital, Ministry Medical Group Clinic’s in Weston and Rib Mountain, The Diagnostic & Treatment Center, Ministry Home Care and other shared services of Ministry Health Care in the Wausau area.

The products are the result of a corporate donation, employee collection drives; and purchase facilitation for the Workplace Volunteer Council through Ministry Health Care’s Corporate Supply Chain. In addition, employees serve as volunteers for the annual distribution at the Wausau Armory which this year is expected to serve nearly 4,000 Marathon County Children in kindergarten through eighth grade on August 15.

“This is always a very rewarding project to support,” said Tom Weaver, public and community relations manager for Ministry Health Care at Saint Clare’s Hospital. “We believe our support of the Workplace Volunteer Council’s efforts goes a long way in making our community a better place for thousands of families.”

In addition to the monetary and supply collection donations, Ministry employees also assist the Workplace Volunteer Council in it’s year long planning and promotion of Fill a Back Pack, Fill a Need and its other community initiative Bare Necessities which provides undergarments and socks to needy families in the Wausau area.

The newest member of the Ministry Health Care system sponsored by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, Saint Clare’s Hospital is a 110-bed all-digital provider of quality, compassionate care in central Wisconsin offering a wide range of primary and specialty care.
