Ministry Saint Clare’s Foundation Launches Sister Sharee Hurtgen Scholarship
The Foundation of Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital is launching a scholarship program in celebration of Sister Sharee Hurtgen.
Sister Sharee will retire from her role as Ministry Saint Clare’s Patient Advocate at the end of the month and many behind the scenes see this as a fitting tribute in recognition of her many years of service to Ministry Health Care and the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother.
The “Sister Sharee Hurtgen Scholarship” is an opportunity for children of Ministry Saint Clare’s Associates who work in the Wausau/Weston area who have not had the benefit of obtaining scholarships after high school.
“Many of us have been blessed to have the opportunity to support Sister Sharee in her personal calling to walk with those who do not have the same opportunities as others,” said Antonina Olszewski, Ministry Saint Clare’s Foundation Director. “This annual scholarship will provide opportunities for children of our Associates as they embark on their educational journey beyond high school.”
Qualifications for the Sister Sharee Hurtgen Scholarship are:
• High School Seniors who are children of Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital Associates.
• Acceptance in an educational or apprentice program.
• Graduation from high school with a C average or above.
• Completion of scholarship application.
“I am aware that often extracurricular activities, sports and other volunteer options that qualify one to be considered for a scholarship are not possible if one has to have a job to help with personal and family expenses or has not achieved a 4.0 grade point average,” said Sister Sharee. “It is my hope that this scholarship will provide assistance to children of our Associates who may have been overlooked in the traditional scholarship selection process at their high school.”
The Sister Sharee Hurtgen Scholarship will be awarded annually based on funds available. Funds awarded will be paid directly to the school or program in which the student is enrolled. Application deadline is April 15.
Anyone who wishes to join Sister Sharee in supporting this scholarship opportunity can do so by providing a monetary donation to the Foundation of Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital, Attn: Sister Sharee Hurtgen Scholarship. A generous donor to the Foundation of Ministry Saint Clare’s has stepped forward and will match any donations to the Sister Sharee Scholarship fund between now and March 1.
“One dollar added to other dollars can grow this opportunity for children of Ministry Saint Clare’s Associates in our area,” Said Sister Sharee.
