Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital to offer Safe Sitter® Classes
The Family Birth Center at Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital in Weston is now accepting registrations for Safe Sitter® Classes to be held in the month of June.
Safe Sitter® is a medically accurate, competency-based babysitting preparation course designed for 11 to 13-year-olds.
“These sessions will feature a new curriculum that has been updated to follow the latest guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics,” said Shelley Gering, Perinatal education coordinator at Ministry Saint Clare’s. “Injuries are the leading cause of death in children up to age 5, so today’s babysitters need to know more than just the basics of child care.”
Safe Sitter will discuss how babysitting is a business and what your child will need to do to be safe and successful babysitters. Included in the class are accepting the jobs that are right for you, child care essentials, infant and child choking rescue, first-aid, behavior management and safety.
Safe Sitter Classes will be held on June 17, 19, 24 and 25 in the Ministry Saint Clare’s Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants should use parking lot and door #3 for best access to the program on the campus of the Weston Regional Medical Center.
Cost for the class is $40 and includes a student handbook. Limited financial assistance is available for families who cannot afford the normal fee, please call for more information.
Advanced registration is requested and space is limited. For more information or to register, please contact Shelley Gering at 715.393.3046 or Shelley.firstname.lastname@example.org
