Ministry Saint Clare’s Welcomes New Hospitalists

Ministry Health Care and Ministry Medical Group are pleased to welcome Myung Sun Jung, MD and Chizoba Ugwummadu, MD, who recently joined the Hospitalist Department at Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

Hospitalists are a team of specially trained physicians and advanced practice clinicians who manage a full spectrum of serious illnesses and specialize in coordinating care around the clock. Hospitalists are able to keeping a close eye on patients, answer questions, monitor treatment in a timely manner, and coordinate care in conjunction with the patient’s primary health care provider.

Dr. Jung has a special interest in palliative care, helping patients achieve relief from the symptoms, stress and pain caused by their illness. She received her medical degree, a master’s and an undergraduate degree from Catholic University of South Korea, Seoul. She also completed a residency and internship in internal medicine as well as a general surgery residency at Catholic University. Additionally, Dr. Jung completed a residency in internal medicine at Mount Vernon Hospital in Mount Vernon, N.Y. She is certified in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, fundamental critical care support and advanced trauma life support.

“My practice is entirely focused on hospitalized patients,” said Dr. Jung. “I am committed to being available to patients and their families to answer questions and discuss the care that is received. I also act as a liaison to the patient’s primary health care provider, and make sure the communication is coordinated between everyone involved in the patient’s care.”

In her spare time, Dr. Jung enjoys skiing, riding bikes, walking and watching movies with her family.

Dr. Ugwummadu has a special interest in caring for patients with cardiovascular and respiratory conditions. He received his medical degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Conn. He also holds a master’s degree in health promotion from King's College, London, England. He is certified in basic life support and advanced cardiovascular life support.

“When patients are in the hospital, they usually feel a certain amount of stress,” said Dr. Ugwummadu. “One of my goals as a hospitalist is to relax them and bring a smile to their face. I also work closely with the patient’s family and try to reassure them as well. Healing can only begin when the patient is at ease. I see that as one of my important roles.”

In his spare time, Dr. Ugwummadu enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his family and friends.
