Power Outage Causes Disruption of Phone Service at Ministry Saint Clare’s
At approximately 4:30 this morning, a brief power outage affected services at the Weston Regional Medical Center.
While the outage lasted only seconds and emergency back-up measures went immediately into effect, the incident caused the facilities network servers to shut down and interrupt network and telecommunication services.
As part of the facilities emergency operations plan, all elective surgeries at Ministry Saint Clare’s Hospital were placed on hold and the Emergency Department was placed on diversion status with notification sent to all local Emergency Medical System (EMS) agencies.
As of 8:30 this morning, Ministry Saint Clare’s returned to normal patient care operations.
All internal phone systems are fully functional, but the hospital is still experiencing intermittent issues with incoming calls placed directly to patient rooms.
Anyone with an emergency involving a patient or family member hospitalized at Ministry Saint Clare’s is asked to call the Hospital Switchboard at 715.393.3000. Hospital staff is prepared to connect family members as needed.
“Our staff activated our network downtime procedures to continue to meet the needs of our patients without any problems during this incident,” said Rachel Yaron, Vice President of Operations at Ministry Saint Clare’s.
