Community Outreach/Medication Assistance:
Saint Elizabeth’s Community Outreach Coordinator provides assistance and resources to patients and families that are experiencing financial hardships and need help enrolling in government insurance programs, Medicare Part D, medication discount plans, Community Care, and other services.
Saint Elizabeth’s Certified Diabetes Self-Management Program helps patients with diabetes and their families gain skills needed to improve blood glucose control. Individual and group sessions blend medical care, education, exercise and support into one comprehensive program. Specific program components include: individualized nursing, medical nutrition, and exercise consultations; group education sessions on a variety of topics; follow-up care; and access to Saint Elizabeth’s Wellness Center.

Diagnostic Imaging refers to the techniques and processes used to create images of the human body for clinical purposes to diagnose or examine diseases.
Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center offers onsite hemodialysis services, which is a program of Mayo Clinic.
Saint Elizabeth’s Emergency Department provides 24-hour access to critical care for patients requiring treatment from bumps and bruises to major emergencies.
Our partnership with area ground and air ambulance services provides responsive transportation of critically ill and injured patients to tertiary care centers in Rochester, Minnesota and LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Mayo Hospice provides a full complement of hospice services in home, hospital and long-term care settings. Hospice offices are located at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center.
Saint Elizabeth’s Laboratory provides a full scope of laboratory testing to inpatients and outpatients. Our lab also serves as a reference lab for area primary care clinics. A consulting pathologist works with our laboratory team to read and interpret lab tests.

Saint Elizabeth’s long-term care team represents certified nursing assistants, nurses, geriatric nurse practitioners, social workers, therapists and other clinicians. Saint Elizabeth’s Nutrition Services Department takes great care to provide for the nutritional needs of patients, residents, families, and visitors. Menu choices for patients and guests with special nutritional needs are readily available. At your service, Saint Elizabeth’s provides a variety of meal options including “wise choice” healthy alternatives. For individuals with dietary restrictions, food choices are carefully monitored by registered dietitians who assess nutritional value, caloric intake and the appropriate balance of foods.
Outpatient nutrition consultations and weight management services by registered dietitians are provided to in- and out-patients referred by their primary care provider.
Saint Elizabeth’s Pharmacy provides for the medication needs of inpatients and long-term care residents. Saint Elizabeth’s does not provide retail pharmacy services to the general public.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is provided at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in partnership with Mayo Clinic. This medical specialty involves the process of restoring lost abilities for a person who has been disabled as a result of disease, disorder, or injury. A physiatrist sees patients by appointment in Saint Elizabeth’s Rehabilitation Department.
Saint Elizabeth’s Rehabilitation Services offer a wide range of services to assist individuals of all ages with functional limitations due to disease and injury. We provide physical, occupational, and speech treatment services to inpatients and outpatients. Our experienced, friendly staff provides caring, multidisciplinary treatment to patients with a wide variety of conditions that impair the ability to move, perform activities of daily living, communicate or swallow. Such impairments may result from injuries, neurological disease, surgery, orthopedic problems or cancer. Our licensed rehabilitation services staff works closely with you and your health care team to evaluate your condition and develop a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan to foster your recovery.
Physical Therapy benefits patients recovering from illness or injury, helping to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance.
Occupational Therapy provides special assistance to improve dexterity, coordination, strength, and motion. This specialty focuses on assistance with activities of daily living and rehabilitation of the hand, including customized splints and adaptive devices as needed.
Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and Language Therapy helps adults and children who have speech, language, voice, cognitive, or swallowing disorders, as well as individuals who have undergone laryngectomies.
Saint Elizabeth’s provides inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Care services to help our patients breathe better. Our certified and licensed respiratory therapist uses specialized skills to restore healthy breathing and can help treat a variety of respiratory diseases.
Saint Elizabeth’s Sleep Disorders Program is provided in partnership with Precision Diagnostics, Inc. Diagnostic sleep tests are performed at Saint Elizabeth’s and coordinated by our respiratory therapist. Follow-up care and referrals are coordinated with your primary care provider.

Saint Elizabeth’s Social Services Department serves as an advocate for patients, residents, and families. Social workers assist with the admission and referral processes, and provide needed resources, community links, guidance and assistance.
Saint Elizabeth’s offers services and resources that enhance the well-being of the spirit. Pastoral visits, Catholic and ecumenical worship services, written materials, ethical consultations, and referrals to clergy and other spiritual services are available upon request. Refer to our Visitors Section for a worship service schedule.
Our staff of therapists is trained to provide age-appropriate care for our patients. We emphasize the importance of early injury recognition and treatment in order to prevent recurring injuries.
Saint Elizabeth’s hosts monthly support programs as a community service:
WELLNESS SUPPORT GROUP meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center. This group is open to anyone touched by a chronic disease such as heart disease, stroke, pulmonary disease, and diabetes.
ALZHEIMER’S/DEMENTIA SUPPORT GROUP meets on the second Thursday of the month at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Elizabeth’s Health Care Center. This group is open to caregivers touched by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia disorders.
Saint Elizabeth’s Surgical Services include a broad scope of inpatient and outpatient surgery procedures. General, orthopedic, ophthalmology (eye), ear, nose & throat (ENT), urology, podiatry, and colonoscopy/endoscopy surgery services are provided locally.

The number one action that tobacco users can take to improve their health is to end their tobacco (cigarettes & smokeless tobacco) dependence. The health benefits begin as soon as a person stops using tobacco. Tobacco addiction can be as difficult to quit as any other drug dependence. The Tobacco Independence Program provides an evidence-based, individualized approach to helping persons quit using tobacco. It is facilitated by a Mayo Clinic Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS), and sponsored by Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center and Wabasha Clinic, part of Lake City Medical Center — Mayo Health System.
The Wellness Network:
The Wellness Network is a FREE community service of education and support for people with chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. The Wellness Network is also open to anyone interested in making healthful lifestyle changes. Watch for announcements of meeting dates and times.
