A Birthday Party With Special Meaning
Ashley Froehlich’s special 16th birthday party was unlike any regular teen her age. Ashley and over 100 of her friends and family enjoyed cake, dancing and bowling, but when it came to the gifts, Ashley asked all of her party guests to bring a toy to donate to Children's Miracle Network at Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital in Marshfield.
Ashley, a sophomore at D.C. Everest Senior High School in Wausau collected $160 and three huge boxes of toys at her party on December 12.
“Kids helping kids is one of the most rewarding parts of working with an organization like Children’s Miracle Network,” said Patti Shafto-Carlson, director of children’s services at Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. “Often times I learn so much from the caring hearts of children in our community. Time after time children like Ashley make contributions to the hospital for all the right reasons – because they care.”
Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital will use the toys for children that are in the hospital during holidays and throughout the year for birthdays and other special events.
The mission of Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) is to raise funds to support programs that improve the heath care of children. In 1989 Saint Joseph’s Children’s Hospital of Marshfield became one of 170 CMN Hospitals in North America. And although CMN is a nationally affiliated event, 100% of the funds raised locally stay in the North Central Wisconsin area to help provide programs, services and treatment for sick and injured children and to support programs that seek to prevent children's injuries, and promote healthy lifestyles in these communities.
When you share your support with Children’s Miracle Network, you are playing a critical role in the healing process of thousands of children from throughout North Central Wisconsin. Your contribution benefits an array of pediatric programs and services and it impacts young lives battling virtually every type of childhood illness and injury. Whether investing in the life of a premature infant whose weight is measured in grams rather than ounces, or preserving the dreams of a teenager whose hopes are threatened by the malignancy of cancer, Children’s Miracle Network is dedicated to our most precious resource – the health and happiness of children.
