Ministry receives AORN award
Ministry Health Care has received an award from the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), presented at the organization’s recent 61st annual Surgical Conference and Expo in Chicago. Nearly 5,000 health care professionals and another 5,000 vendors attended.
The award was given “In appreciation for the Encouragement and Support” of Rosemarie Schroeder, BSN, RN, CNOR, who has served in several AORN leadership capacities since 2005, this last year as president. Schroeder is a director of Patient Care Services at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where she is responsible for Surgery, the Peri-anestesia Care Unit and Central Sterile Processing. During her term as AORN president, she attended and/or was a guest speaker at several national and international nursing conferences. “Innovation” was the theme of her tenure and of the Conference.
Robin Kretschman, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, vice president of patient care services for the hospital, accepted the award on behalf of Ministry Health Care.
AORN is a non-profit membership association based in Denver that represents the interests of more than 160,000 perioperative nurses by providing nursing education, standards and clinical practice resources—including the peer-reviewed monthly publication AORN Journal—to enable optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. AORN’s 44,000 registered nurse members manage, teach and practice perioperative nursing, are enrolled in nursing education or are engaged in perioperative research.
Schroeder also served as president-elect in 2012-2013; vice president from 2010-2012, and on the board of directors from 2005-2007 and again from 2008-2010.
