Ministry Health Care, Marshfield Clinic to Bring Additional Specialty Services to Stevens Point
Saint Michael's Hospital, Ministry Health Care and Marshfield Clinic have developed a plan to increase specialty care services provided by Marshfield Clinic to the Stevens Point community.
Last spring, Marshfield Clinic purchased land for future development in the community. For the past several months, Saint Michael's Hospital, Ministry Medical Group and Ministry Health Care have been working collaboratively with Marshfield Clinic to find a way to bring Marshfield Clinic specialty care services to the community on a much faster timetable.
Space is being developed on the fourth floor of Saint Michael's Hospital that will provide a significant presence for Marshfield Clinic specialty care services. Approximately 7,000 square feet of space is being remodeled to accommodate several new practice specialties including cardiology, nephrology, allergy care and several pediatric subspecialties including pediatric cardiology, pediatric neurology and pediatric nephrology.
"We believe that having Marshfield Clinic physicians on campus will enhance ongoing collaboration between our physician groups and ultimately provide better care for the people of our community," said Brad Neet, president, Saint Michael's Hospital. "Marshfield Clinic will bring new services to the area, which, when combined with existing Ministry Medical Group primary and specialty care services, will increase access to health care on the campus for the community."
"This will bring a broader array of health care services to the community and enhance the relationship between Ministry Health Care and Marshfield Clinic," said Mark Fenlon, regional vice president, Ministry Medical Group.
Space renovation on the fourth floor of Saint Michael's Hospital should be completed by the end of this year with plans for Marshfield Clinic physicians to move in by early 2009.
"We're pleased to work with Ministry Health Care and Saint Michael's Hospital to bring additional specialty care services to Stevens Point and Portage County," said Karl Ulrich, M.D., M.M.M., Marshfield Clinic president and CEO. "Patients in the Stevens Point area have requested more specialty services and this is one way we can cooperate to meet those expressed needs."
Marshfield Clinic offers consultative services in Stevens Point in leased office space at Saint Michael's Hospital. Marshfield Clinic also has the Stevens Point Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center in Stevens Point, which became part of the Marshfield Clinic system in 1988, and Marshfield Clinic Stevens Point Dermatology, which joined the Marshfield Clinic system in May 2008.
