Community Weight Race Encourages Healthy Weight Loss
Saint Michael’s Hospital, in partnership with Portage County CAN, encourages you to get active and work towards a healthier 2010 by participating in the annual 13 week Community Weight Race competition. Community Weight Race 2010 challenges groups (3-5 participants per group) to realize healthy weight loss goals and achieve healthy lifestyle routines for the New Year and beyond through group efforts and weekly health related presentations. The challenge begins January 4 and will run through April 10.
The $50 registration fee per group covers the cost of the program. Each team member receives a free competition t-shirt and qualifies for a ten percent discount on ancillary health and training services through the EXCEL Program at Saint Michael’s Hospital. Individuals without a team may sign up for $15 and will be placed on a team. Competition is open to ages 18 and older.
Weight loss will be calculated by the percentage of weight loss per group. Participants can attend progress weigh-ins throughout the competition at Saint Michael’s Hospital and other designated areas. The competition will conclude with an awards ceremony on April 10, 2010.
Local supporters for the event include Point Sports Medicine of Ministry Health Care, Stevens Point Area YMCA, Stevens Point Buyers’ Guide, The Store and participating Subway restaurants.
Initial weigh-ins held January 4-7, 4-7 pm at 2501 Main Street. Kick-off event and final day to enter, January 9, 2010, 10 am – 2 pm at 2501 Main Street in Stevens Point.
