Hospital and clinic appointments continue as scheduled
At 10:30 pm, July 19 Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital and Ministry Medical Group located at 900 Illinois Avenue in Stevens Point temporarily lost main power as the result of strong thunderstorms which caused significant damage and flooding to the greater Stevens Point area.
In accordance with its emergency operations plan, power from hospital generators provided necessary services to continue patient care until utility services were restored at approximately 6:25 am, July 20.
Surgical cases were delayed two hours. All other hospital and clinic patient appointments and procedures continue today as regularly scheduled unless otherwise notified.
In addition to temporary loss of power, several areas in the hospital and clinic have sustained water damage. Water damage in patient care areas was minimal and no hospital evacuation or patient transfers were necessary.
Patient safety, security and comfort remain top priority. Hospital and clinic officials are appreciative of the efforts of staff and community agencies responding to this situation.
