Retired physician and spouse inspire others to give back

(Stevens Point, WI) – It all started with a generous gift from a retired physician and his wife as a way for them to give back to the community.  Today it has grown to be a promise to continue to support patients treated at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital through the 2013 Give Back Campaign.

“The Give Back Campaign was inspired by the generosity of Dr. Joseph and Charlene Jarabek upon their establishing the Dr. Joseph and Charlene Jarabek Endowment Fund,” shared Angie Heuck, Saint Michael’s Foundation Director.  “The Give Back Campaign will support the area of greatest need for our patients here at Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital.”

Last year Dr. Jarabek attended the Saint Michael’s Foundation Retired Physician Luncheon. As he looked around the room, Jarabek realized that he and his retired physician colleagues had collectively given hundreds of thousands of hours of service to the greater community during their collective health care careers.

“The hospital has been a center point of care in our community for 100 years,” shared Dr. Jarabek. “It has been my privilege to serve patients 35 of those 100 years, alongside my Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital and Ministry Medical Group colleagues. Now that I’m retired, Charlene and I wanted to find a way to continue to serve others.”

In celebration of Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital’s 100th Anniversary, Saint Michael’s Foundation Give Back Campaign organizers have set the goal to raise at least $100,000 by the end of 2013.

“We are grateful for the support and inspiration of Charlene and Dr. Jarabek,” shared Heuck. “Our 100th Anniversary one hundred thousand dollar goal is a great way leave a legacy for the next 100 years.”

Gifts to the Give Back Campaign will go directly to the Greatest Need Fund at Saint Michael’s Foundation, providing unrestricted support for the patients and families of Ministry Saint Michael’s Hospital and Ministry Medical Group.
