Saint Michael's Hospital Drop-In Child Care provided over 1,000 hours of child care in 2008
Stevens Point, WI — Through a partnership with the Stevens Point YMCA, Saint Michael's Hospital and Ministry Medical Group provide drop-in child care for their patients and visitors.In 2008 the center provided care for over 900 children, totaling over 1,000 hours of child care.
The Drop-In Child Care program began in 2005 and was designed to provide a safe and secure environment for the children of patients and visitors at Saint Michael's Hospital and Ministry Medical Group. Children are able to play with toys and other children under the care of trained YMCA staff while their guardians and parents attend medical appointments without the worry of child care.
The service is available for infants and children up to 11 years of age Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. There is a limit of 16 children at any one time and is run on a first come, first served basis – no appointment necessary.Drop-in Child Care is located on the first floor at Saint Michael's Hospital.
"Our staff recognizes how important our child care center is to our patients," states Grace McBride, Vice President of Patient Care Services at Saint Michael's Hospital. "It plays a vital role in allowing patients to have time with their provider with out interruption."
