Saint Michael’s honored as top coding hospital

(Stevens Point, WI) – Saint Michael’s Hospital was recently recognized as one of the nation’s best hospitals for the most complete inpatient coding performance according to a Top 200 Coding Hospitals report by Ingenix.

Ingenix, a health information company that specializes in medical coding, analyzed more than 4,600 facilities whose data was included in the 2007 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review file. Ingenix noted that top coding hospitals should be considered models for other health care facilities to follow.

“This report recognizes our efforts to engage in accurate medical coding practices that are compliant with government billing regulations, these efforts help our organization do its part to cut back on rising health care costs,” said Jean Lippert, Director of Health Information Management at Saint Michael’s Hospital. “We credit this honor to Karen Rautio and Cathy Janssen, our inpatient coders, as well as the rest of the coding team at Saint Michael’s Hospital.”
