UW-Stevens Point Men's Hockey Team to "Put a Check to Cancer" for Local Cancer Patients
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Men’s Hockey Team is joining forces with Ministry Health Care to “Put a Check to Cancer,” on Friday, January 28 as the Pointers take on UW-Eau Claire at K.B. Willett Arena in Stevens Point.
The evening will be a “Black Out” night, as the Pointers will wear special black game jerseys with ALL FANS are encouraged to wear black.
During the game, the Pointers will also be holding a silent auction selling each players game-worn jersey. At the conclusion of the game, the winner of the silent auction will be presented with their jersey by the player.
“Cancer touches the hearts of many people and this is a great opportunity for us to help local cancer patients and partner with our community to make a difference,” said UW-Stevens Point Hockey Coach Wil Nichol.
Last year’s event raised nearly $4,000 with proceeds benefiting Saint Michael’s Foundations’ Cancer Services Fund to help patients being treated for cancer in our community.
