Demolition and construction of these areas will begin in May 2014.

Emergency Department Temporary Entrance Begins December 19.

Construction work continues at a steady pace despite the early cold and snow. Structural steel has been set for the main section of the new addition with plans to be fully enclosed by Christmas Eve (pending weather)

The next phase of construction requires that the Emergency Department and Urgent Care (ED/UC) patient entrance be temporarily relocated. This move is tentatively scheduled for December 19, 2014 and will stay in place until the new addition opens in 2015.

Reserved parking for ED/UC patients and their family members will be designated in the north main parking lot as they will no longer have access to parking in the lower ramp due to construction. A walkway from the parking lot along Illinois Avenue will lead to the covered entrance located near the northeast corner of our facility where drop-off access will also be available. Download Map.

All non-emergency visitors should continue to utilize the north main hospital parking lot and entrance.

Associates will have access to the upper and lower parking structure as well as the revised Sections B in the north lot.  Parking is also available at the 2501 Main Street building with free shuttle transportation services between buildings. All associates are encouraged to take advantage of these convenient services.

ED/UC Entrance Relocation

As previously communicated, the Emergency Department and Urgent Care (ED/UC) patient entrance will be temporarily relocated. This will be effective beginning mid-December, until the new addition opens in 2015. During this time period the Emergency Department will continue to provide 24-hour care every day of the week. Urgent Care services will be available both on-site and at Plover Urgent Care during published hours.

All non-emergency visitors should continue to utilize the north main hospital parking lot and entrance.

Construction Update

Work continues at a steady pace despite the early cold and snow. Structural steel is being installed with plans for the new addition to be enclosed by Christmas Eve. As always, use safe precautions when near the construction site. If you identify any safety concerns, please call 715.343.3247.

South Building Entrance Update
All south building entrances are now closed due to construction. Due to safety concerns, associates should enter the building on Fremont Street or through the main north lobby. The Emergency Department/Urgent Care (ED/UC) entrance is to be utilized by ED/UC patients and ED/UC associates only.

Current Construction Activity
As you may have noticed, current construction activity now includes demolition of the vacant switchboard, quiet room, and external removal of ASD (Ambulatory Surgery Department) walls. Footings and foundations have been readied for the installation of structural steel beginning this month (November).

IMPORTANT: ED/UC Entrance Relocation in December
In order to continue with the site utility work for the new Emergency Room addition, the ED/UC triage area must be relocated. Preparations are underway to relocate the 1st Floor Medical Oncology offices, and create an interim corridor from the northeast canopy entrance located on Illinois Avenue.  The interim ED/UC triage area will be located in the area where the Quality Department was previously located across from the Archangel Café (in between Oncology Services and the HUB).

Patients who need to access ED/UC will be directed to park in a designated area in the main north parking lot or use short-term parking under the northeast canopy. As always, we need to ensure that patients have ready and immediate access for their emergency and urgent care needs. Watch for parking adjustment notices as this will impact associate parking.

OPEN HOUSE AND TOURS - New CT scanner

Diagnostic Imaging suite construction is complete and the new Siemens, SOMATOM® Definition Flash 128-slice dual source CT scanner installed. The SOMATOM Definition Flash is one of the fastest computed tomography (or CT) scanners available. For most adults, it can mage the entire chest in less than a second and it can scan the whole body in less than five seconds. With Dual Source Technology and the Stellar Detectors, high quality images will be aken while minimizing the radiation dose level.  Please join us on Wednesday, August 13, for an Open House and Tours. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. near the HUB, and tours will be available until 1:30 p.m.

Construction Activity

Construction activity will be evident in the upcoming weeks as the make-ready projects are underway. These projects must be completed before footings, foundation and structural steel can be placed for the new ED/Urgent Care addition.

Beginning next week, a large area will be fenced off between the parking ramp and the south side of the hospital building. It is important that we keep PATIENTS FIRST so associates must park in the designated sections of the parking ramp, the north lot, or 2501 Main Street.  Our surgical patients arrive early in the morning so associates should not park in the guest side of the lower level parking ramp at any time.

The fencing will limit access into the building through entrances #13,14,15 (by MRI dock) and #12 (by Surgery). Please watch for signs denoting these only as emergency exits to the outside.  Entrance #16 (Ambulatory Surgery) will continue to be accessible until further notice.

A small area (approximately 4 parking spaces) will be fenced within the lower level ramp as well. A mechanical room must be built to relocate the electrical panel for the parking ramp. Associates will be able to use the west stairwell for the duration of this short project.

Watch for more information about other make-ready projects:

*Installation of roof beam above the current Emergency Room
*Construction and demolition around the MRI dock and Surgery Clean Storage Area
*Construction of access stairs from the lower and upper parking ramp
*Remodeling of Cancer Center offices and exam rooms
*Construction of corridor from “old canopy” entrance on Illinois Avenue
*Construction of an interim ED/Urgent Care triage area

Oxygen Tank Relocation Complete
The oxygen tank relocation project is complete and the upper parking ramp is once again open for associate parking. See photos.

Parking
Please remember that parking for patients remains a top priority, so watch for periodic notices about shuttle service, entrance and parking changes throughout the construction project. For your convenience, bike racks are available on the north and west side of the building. There is also a motorcycle/moped parking area now available in the north parking lot. We ask that you continue to be respectful and follow all parking regulations when parking on the street as our neighbors have expressed concerns.

Congratulations to Heather Kawlewski, Coding, who was selected as the May winner for the “Doing My Part for Parking Program.” Heather has been walking to work over 50% of her scheduled shifts. Remember you can enter to win each month by biking, walking, or ride sharing to work. Thank you to all who have been doing their part to make sure parking is available for our patients, and for everyone’s continued patience and cooperation.

New CT scanner: The noise coming from Diagnostic Imaging is from suite construction to house the new Siemens, SOMATOM® Definition Flash 128-slice dual source, CT scanner. Watch for more details about this suite opening in late July.
