The Pain Control Center located at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander offers a free monthly chronic pain support group, which will meet the third Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. in conference room 4 next to the cafeteria. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2010.
Chronic pain is defined as pain that last longer than six months. It can affect work patterns, family relationships and recreational activities. It can cause sleeplessness, loss of appetite, depression and a sense of hopelessness.
The Chronic Pain Support Group encompasses a whole range of different illness that has resulted in chronic pain. It is a safe place to come, learn from others who feel as you do and find hope. The members of this group are men and women who have chronic pain, their friends and family members. The group meets under the guidance of the hospital’s Pain Control Center staff.
The Chronic Pain Support Group provides an opportunity to socialize in a comfortable and relaxed setting. Refreshments and conversation time is available at each meeting.
