(Rhinelander, WI) The James Beck Cancer Center located at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander offers a free monthly cancer support group, which will meet the second Thursday of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. in the James Beck Cancer Center Conference Room. The next meeting is scheduled for October 9, 2008.
Support groups offer people facing cancer the opportunity to learn from the experience of others in similar circumstances, to share methods of coping and to develop new relationships at a time of isolation. Groups have been shown to improve adjustment, mood, coping and quality of life for people dealing with cancer.

The cancer support group is open to any person who has been diagnosed with cancer, whether undergoing treatment currently or not. Family members may also find it beneficial to attend this group. Judy Walton, MSW and Kadie Van Cleve, RN will facilitate the group.
