February Mindfulness Program in Rhinelander
January 27, 2017
Ministry Koller Behavioral Health, part of Ascension, offers a monthly Mindfulness program in Rhinelander that is free and open to anyone in the community.
“Maintaining a Sense of Wonder with Mindfulness,” is the featured program for February. The program will be offered on Thursday, February 9, from 5-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, February 21 from 1-2:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Ministry Riverside Clinic at 1020 Kabel Avenue, Rhinelander in the 2nd floor conference room. Advanced registration is not required.
“This month’s program will focus on opening yourself to the texture of each unique moment,” said Kathy Mitchell, MA of Ministry Koller Behavioral Health. “Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment with interest and calm awareness. We can train ourselves to be less lost in worries, plans, fantasy, and regret. With more attention and stability, we are free to see what is available, even in difficult times.”
Ministry Koller Behavioral Health also offers the Riverside Meditation Group on Thursday February 2 and 16 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. These sessions are held every other Thursday each month.
Riverside Meditation Group is an opportunity for anyone with a meditation practice to have regular group support. There are two twenty minute seated meditations with either walking meditation or Qigong in between. The meditation model is silent and still with occasional guided meditations. At the end a short talk focusing on enhancing skills of mindfulness and meditation.
The Riverside Meditation Group draws from western psychological mindfulness teachings, philosophy, literature, and poetry.
