Mindfulness and Meditation: The Benefits of Both Practices
February 17, 2017
Ministry Koller Behavioral Health, part of Ascension, offers a monthly Mindfulness program in Rhinelander that is free to anyone in the community.
“Mindfulness and Meditation, The benefits of Both Practices,” is the featured program for March. The program will be offered on Thursday, March 9, from 5-6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, March 28 from 1-2:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Ministry Riverside Clinic at 1020 Kabel Avenue, Rhinelander in the 2nd floor conference room. Advanced registration is not required.
“Mindfulness and meditation are concepts that have become very common in our everyday language,” said Kathy Mitchell, MA of Ministry Koller Behavioral Health. “While we are being encouraged to do these practices for health, relationships and productivity, few people really understand what are the differences and benefits of meditation versus mindfulness. In this program we learn to master both and decide what is the most useful in our own lives.”
Ministry Koller Behavioral Health also offers the Riverside Meditation Group on March 2 and 23 from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m.
Riverside Meditation Group is an opportunity for anyone with a meditation practice to have regular group support. There are two twenty minute seated meditations with either walking meditation or Qigong in between. The meditation model is silent and still with occasional guided meditations. At the end a short talk focusing on enhancing skills of mindfulness and meditation.
The Riverside Meditation Group draws from western psychological mindfulness teachings, philosophy, literature, and poetry.
