Once again this year Ministry Rehabilitation Services and Ministry Medical Group teamed up to offer FREE Pre-Participation Sports Physicals for athletes in sixth through eleventh grade within the Sacred Heart – Saint Mary’s Hospital service area in July.
Any athlete participating in a WIAA sport during the 2009-10 school year was eligible to be screened by the team of health professionals including Ministry Medical Group physicians Dr. Paul Wegehaupt, Dr. Bruce Jacobson, Dr. William Wright, Dr. Barry Barudin and Nurse Practitioner Barb Gartmann; Ministry Rehabilitation Physical Therapists Kip Smith, Dave Smith, Rachel Gilbert, Robert Wojnowski, Physical Therapy Assistants Kathy Towne; Occupational Therapists Jim Holma, Renee Wink, Candace Grenzer, Becky Kretlow, Kay Anderson; Certified Athletic Trainers Kim Ice, Josh Ice, Clinic Nursing and administrative staff Penny Alsteen, Sandy Resch, Jackie Levendowski, Gabe Kivi, Sarah Kalies, Bernadette Eddy, Lacy Thrasher, Linda Carroll, Rhonda Hollands, Karla Crowell. Also assisting this year was administrative staff Leslie Hilgendorf, Stacy Haenel and Barb McLoughlin.
One hundred fifty three athletes were screened in Rhinelander and $770 was raised for the Rhinelander High School Scholarship fund. Additional funds collected were donated to the Rhinelander Pop Warner program. A HUGE thank you to all who helped make this years screening an overwhelming success.
