Ministry Rehab Therapists Receive Freedom From Smoking® Facilitator Certification

Ministry Rehabilitation Services, a department of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander is pleased to announce Gina Scheuer, OTR, Becky Kretlow, OTR and Rachel Gilbert, PT have successfully completed the training program for Freedom From Smoking® Facilitators sponsored by the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest.  The facilitator training program prepares individuals to conduct the Freedom From Smoking® (FFS) Clinic which is an adult smoking cessation program using the respective American Lung Association curriculum and materials.

As America’s gold standard smoking cessation program for over 25 years, Freedom From Smoking® helps participants create personalized plans to overcome their tobacco addiction.

With a recent new edition, the program is based on the latest research on addiction and behavior change.

It approaches the difficulties of quitting with a sensitive, supportive style.

Studies show that people who use the program are six times more likely to be smoke-free one year later than those who try to quit on their own.

According to Duane Stefonek, Director of Ministry Rehabilitation Services, the program is especially helpful because it is taught by a trained facilitator who helps participants learn what triggers their smoking, when they’re most likely to smoke, and the best way to approach the quitting process.  “We are very please to have three of our staff certified as Freedom From Smoking® Facilitators.”

Ministry Rehabilitation Services located within the YMCA of the Northwoods, 2003 Winnebago Street in Rhinelander will be offering a FREE Freedom From Smoking® program information meeting on Thursday, October 20 at 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.  For more information or to register, please call 715.361.2300.  Quit smoking for good, call today!
