Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital Donation to SMH Foundation
(Rhinelander, WI) – The Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital, through their fundraising efforts, recently donated $30,000 to the Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
Volunteers provide many services at the medical campus in Rhinelander, and throughout the community. They operate the hospital’s gift shop and conduct many other fundraisers during the year. All profits support health and wellness programs and projects in Rhinelander. The Volunteers also fund six health care scholarships for area students.
In recent years, Volunteers’ donations were used to purchase new hospital laboratory and cardiac rehabilitation equipment, refurnish the family waiting room in the ICU, and purchase mobile fetal monitors for mothers in the birthing center, and a mobile telephone call system for nursing units. Plans for this year’s donation include enhancements to the hospital’s birthing center.
“The Foundation and Volunteers of the hospital work together to improve health care at our local facility,” said Ryan Hetland, vice-chair of the SMH Foundation. “We appreciate all that the volunteers do with their time and monetary donations.”
“We are very proud of our medical care at Ministry Saint Mary’s, and we want to do what we can to help our patients and staff,” added Dorothy Weiler, president of the Volunteers of Ministry Saint Mary’s. “Volunteers provided nearly 18,000 hours of service in 2012, and we feel that we are making a positive impact on local health care.”
